Plans for 20 MW China PV plant underway

LDK Solar and Datang International Power Generation are to install a 20 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic plant in China.

LDK has signed an engineering, procurement and construction contract with Datang to develop the project in China’s Qinghai province.

According to a statement released, work on the first 10 MW will begin this month, while the entire project is scheduled for completion by the end of September.

“We are pleased to partner with an industry leader such as Datang on this PV project,” commented Xiaofeng Peng, chairman and CEO of LDK Solar. “This contract expands LDK’s presence within China’s growing PV market.”

The news comes just over a week after it was announced that China is to introduce its first feed-in tariff for photovoltaic projects.
