The Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association (Rehda) has launched an environment-related rating tool, Green Real Estate, or simply called GreenRE, to raise green living in Malaysia to another level.
GreenRE is a construction module to generate less wastage during construction and to reduce energy, water and natural resource consumption, as well as to provide good air quality and comfort to occupants of completed residential units.
An occupied conventional dwelling unit uses a large amount of power and produces a huge amount of carbon dioxide annually, which are sources of global warming. The green building module serves to reduce these sources of global warming.
Rehda’s GreenRE is designed for various types of real estate to encourage the industry’s participation in designing and constructing green buildings.
