Renewable sources help stabilise Visayas grid in Philippines

The Visayas region is seen to have a more stable power supply by next year on the back of the completion of renewable energy projects in the area. According to the Department of Energy, the Bugasong Villasiga Hydroelectric Power Project by Sunwest Water & Electric Company is already at its final stage of completion and will add 8-MW supply to the grid. Another 12-MW potential is expected to come from the first-phase completion of the wind power project of Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corporation in 2013.
