Shimozuru solar power plant begins commercial operations

Japan’s Shimozuru solar power plant in Kagoshima Prefecture has gone online. The 1 MW facility is a 20,000 square meter power plant operated by the Izumi Solar Project which had used some 6,700 thin film modules contracted from the firm Solar Frontier. The 1,220,000 kWh that that the plant will produce yearly will be sold to Kyushu Electric Power Company. The solar power plant was constructed in July 2012.
