SkyFuel constructs 50 MW CSP plant in China

SkyFuel will construct a 50 MW concentrating solar power (CSP) parabolic trough plant near Huludao in China.

SkyFuel is constructing the CSP plant using its SkyTrough parabolic troughs for project developer Huludao Ruixinda Industry Co, the state-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission (SASC) and the US-China Economic and Cultural Development Alliance (US-China ECDA).

BoHua Wu, President & General Manager of Huludao Ruixinda Industry Co, says: “This project will be a showcase for concentrating solar power in China.”

Together with SASAC and US-China ECDA, SkyFuel says it is pursuing other opportunities throughout China for solar power. Other projects in development include fuel switching of existing fossil-fired power plants with solar energy.

“We are very excited to have this opportunity to provide the solar collectors for Huludao,” adds Kelly Beninga, SkyFuel’s Chief Commercial Officer. “This is a first step into a new market that holds great promise for SkyFuel”.
