Solar leasing prospects for Singapore

Companies and schools in Singapore are now eyeing solar leasing as a way to cut costs on solar panel installations and maintenance in their buildings. Under solar leasing, any organisation can rent solar panels for 20 years while the leasing company takes care of financing, maintaining and operating the solar photovoltaic systems. Solar leasing customers will only pay 20 per cent of upfront costs plus a monthly rate.

Already popular in California, the scheme’s success will depend on the availability of privately owned rooftops for the necessary long-term investment.
