Suzlon’s Repower Unit Wins 105-Megawatt Turbine Order in Canada

Repower Systems SE, the German unit of India’s biggest turbine maker Suzlon Energy Ltd. (SUEL), will supply 105 megawatts of wind turbines for six projects that Wpd AG is developing Canada.

Suzlon, based in Pune, India, will also open a Repower factory for rotor blades in Ontario, according to an e-mailed statement today.

Repower is expanding in Canada as the nation promotes wind power to create jobs and boost the economy. Canada ranked sixth for new installed wind capacity last year, adding 1,267 megawatts, according to the Canadian Wind Energy Association. It currently has 6,077 megawatts installed, the group’s website shows.
