Tangerang exploring waste management cooperation with Japan

The regional government of Tangerang district, Banten province, is exploring the possibility of cooperation with Japan in waste management, an official said.

“We are now exploring the possibility of cooperation with Japan on how to manage waste,” Head of Cleaning, Parking and Cemetery Services of Tangerang Regional government Agus Suryana said here on Tuesday.

He said that PT Araxx, which represented the Japanese side, was now conducting a test on the condition of waste at the final waste dumping site (TPA) in Jatiwaringing, in order to decide the type of suitable technology.

Agus said that PT Araxx had met the Tangerang district head to discuss the cooperation plan. The company is now conducting various refuse tests at the Jatiwaringin TPA.

The Tangerang government representatives have earlier visited Tokyo at the invitation of the Japanese government through PT Araxx to observe directly the waste management in Japan.

During the working meeting to Tokyo, Tangerang district head Ismet Iskandar was accompanied by a number of officials from the relevant agencies such as the environmental service, the spatial affairs service and the regional financial and asset management services.
