The Fukushima money pit

Costs for the cleanup of Japan’s Fukushima nuclear disaster are much higher than expected, and plant operatoer Tokyo Electric Power Co (Tepco) has said it will need more government funding to continue the work. The company, nationalised four months ago under a bail-out plan, now says it may take nearly US$125 billion to clean up after the disaster and compensate victims.
