Trina Solar’s PV modules have now obtained certification for salt mist, sand blast and PID testing from leading certification bodies
TUV Nord has awarded IEC61701:2011 Severity 1 standard to Trina for salt mist corrosion testing. The modules performed well over several indicators including ground continuity, wet leakage and insulation resistance, thereby proving their suitability for deployment in harsh environments such as coastal areas, saline soils, and areas of heavy snowfall.
The modules also performed well in rigorous blowing sand tests in accordance with DIN EN 60086-2-68 LC2, a standard by SGS. The results showed minimal internal impact thereby showing suitability for deployment in the face of severe sandstorms and strong winds. PID Certification from PV Evolution Labs (PVEL) was also awarded to the company’s multi-crystalline panels for their ability to resist Potential Induced Degradation (PID). The panels were subjected to high-stress conditions of 85 degrees Celsius, 85% relative humidity and a voltage range of +/-1,000 volts for up to 600 hours. PVEL’s certificate is the second PID certificate which Trina Solar modules have received, having been certified by TUV SUD earlier in 2012.
