Wind energy in India to quadruple by 2020

India’s wind energy production could quadruple to 89 GW from its present 18 GW levels in eight years. The report India Wind Energy Outlook 2012 said that the wind energy growth will pour in some $16.5 billion in investments in India, create 1.79 lakh jobs and keep 131 million tonnes of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. The wind outlook report also projects that by 2030, India’s wind capacity could reach 191 GW.
