Bureau Veritas assists Longyuan with world’s first intertidal offshore wind project

Recently, Bureau Veritas was selected by Longyuan to provide supervision and control service for the pipe pile quality of the “Jiangsu Longyuan Rudong 150 MW Offshore Wind Farm Pilot Project Phase III”. As the only foreign third party inspection company working on this project to have participated in all three phases, Bureau Veritas services included supervision for the tower and pipe piles.

As the first large scale intertidal offshore wind power project across the world, the project incorporated pipe pile structures on wind turbines which use the latest technology. As the global leader for third party inspection, Bureau Veritas tower and pipe piles supervision and progress control were acknowledged to have greatly contributed to the project as Mr. Qian Zhenghong, the project leader, said: “During the implementation of phase I, the professional and rigorous services from Bureau Veritas guaranteed the quality of project. So when we begin Phases II and III of the project, we are going to continue to work with Bureau Veritas because its best for the future.”

Bureau Veritas’ professional wind power inspection division ensures that the operation and management of projects run efficiently through its extensive technical expertise and experience for projects both at home and internationally.

Some of the projects that Bureau Veritas has been involved with include the SHAFTEST for the in-service mainshaft for Vestas, Longyuan and Huaneng, tower pipe inspection and on-site technical support for GE, GAMESA, SUZLON, Goldwind, Sinovel, United Power, Dongfang Electric, Guohua, Longyuan, CNOOC and China Resources, comprehensive machine supervision for CNOOC and CGN, wind turbine certification for Sany, and wind power project management for China Construction Group.

So far, Bureau Veritas has been involved in all of China’s offshore (including intertidal) wind power projects (both completed and under construction), such as the Donghai Bridge Wind Farm Phase I and the Pilot Project for Jiangsu Longyuan Rudong 150MW Offshore Wind Farm Phases I, II, III, of which Bureau Veritas was responsible for providing quality supervision and manufacturing processes control.
