Carbon Neutral are launching their vehicle focused Turn your car’s emissions into trees campaign throughout June 2013. The campaign encourages environmentally conscious individuals and businesses to offset their car emissions by making a donation to plant native trees.
Supporters will receive a striking, colorful sticker which they can proudly display in their car window and a tax receipt to claim a deduction before the end of the financial year.
The average vehicle produces about 4 tonnes of CO2 emissions during a year and contributes to air pollution.Trees planted through the campaign will not only absorb carbon emissions but will also help to revegetate and protect Australia’s natural landscape.
Donations can be made online for three different car sizes and business supporters can contact Carbon Neutral for an emissions calculator to easily calculate their vehicle fleet emissions.
Ray Wilson, CEO of Carbon Neutral, commented: “About 16% of Australia’s annual emissions come from transportation and on average Australian vehicles travel 14,900km every year. Its great that more and more people are seeking sustainable travel alternatives like public transport, carpooling, cycling or hybrid vehicles, but driving is still a big part of many people’s lifestyles. Through this campaign we’re giving drivers the opportunity to lessen their impact on our environment.”
“This year we’d love to have more business supporters on board for the campaign – our vision is for all businesses that operate vehicle fleets, from small delivery services and coffee vans to large car dealers and corporates, to take part to reduce Australia’s carbon footprint on the road,” said Ray Wilson.
At the same time as offsetting their vehicle emissions, Carbon Neutral also recommends drivers read the ‘Reduce your impact on the road’ tips listed on their website.
Carbon Neutral are encouraging all environmentally aware drivers to join the campaign this year.
