Nuclear energy company Rosatom said today that its First Deputy CEO for Corporate Development and International Business Kirill Komarov and Deputy Energy Minister of Laos Sinava Souphanouvong signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Under the framework, both parties plan to cooperate in the field of design, construction and operation of nuclear power and research reactors, conduct fundamental and applied research, study nuclear and radiation safety, undertake research and development of technologies in the field of nuclear medicine and pursue related education and training.
The deal will pave the way for the establishment of a joint working group to define specific projects, aimed at the development of cooperation.Furthermore, the parties plan to develop and prepare for signing an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
The document was signed in the presence of General Director of the State Corporation ROSATOM Sergey Kiriyenko and Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Somsavat Lengsavad during his visit to Russia.
