SINGAPORE - Running from 9-10 September 2013 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, SB13 Singapore is part of a pre-eminent international conference series on Sustainable Buildings & Construction that will lead up to the global Sustainable Building Conference scheduled to be held in Barcelona, Spain, in 2014.
SB13 Singapore is hosted by the BCA Centre for Sustainable Buildings (BCA CSB) and co-organised with the National University of Singapore (NUS) in partnership with:- The International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB);
- The International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment (IISBE);
- The United Nations Environment Programme Sustainable Buildings and Climate Initiative (UNEP-SBCI); and
- The International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
Under the theme Realising Sustainability in the Tropics, the conference aims to provide an unparalleled view into regional and international sustainable building issues, and promote greater sustainability through cost effective solutions in design, construction and operation.
SB13 Singapore has attracted about 130 submissions and over 80 technical papers from 20 countries will be presented at the conference. These papers – by industry leaders, top universities and leading research centres – showcase built projects, on-going research and governance models that address paradigms, processes and tools that are pertinent to life in the tropics.

BCA Centre for Sustainable Buildings
The Building and Construction Authority established the BCA Centre for Sustainable Buildings (BCA CSB) together with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in 2011. BCA CSB is responsible for developing and delivering policy tools, approaches, undertake advocacy work and provide coordinated support to countries for sustainable resource management in the building sector. This assistance would be provided through the identification of successful policies, strategies and technologies at the regional and national level and by leveraging the collective expertise of BCA and UNEP as the BCA Centre for Sustainable Buildings strives to grow into a hub for green buildings in the region and contribute to the global efforts of reducing carbon emissions from buildings.

Singapore Green Building Week (SGBW)
First organised in 2009, the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) annual Singapore Green Building Week (SGBW) is Singapore’s foremost platform dedicated to the sustainable built environment.
In its fifth year, SGBW will be held from 9 – 13 September 2013 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, and will see international green building experts, policy-makers, academics and built environment practitioners congregate to exchange knowledge, share ideas and explore opportunities to create a greener, more sustainable built environment.
Sustainable Building 2013 (SB13) is one of the key events of SGBW 2013, together with the International Green Building Conference (IGBC) 2013, held from 11 – 13 September 2013.
